Gambling at ok8 is designed to be entertaining. We want every Malaysian player to enjoy the experience safely, within their means, and in control of their play. This page explains the tools, policies, and resources we have in place to make that possible — and what to do if the fun stops feeling fun.
Our Commitment
At ok8, responsible gambling is not a policy statement we display and forget. It is an active operational commitment that shapes how we design the Platform, how we train our support team, and how we respond when a player shows signs of distress. We believe that every player in Malaysia — whether they are watching the Liga Super Malaysia odds from Kuala Lumpur or following an EPL match from Penang — deserves a safe, controlled, and enjoyable experience.
The gambling industry comes with real risk. Unlike most entertainment products, gambling has the potential to develop from an enjoyable pastime into a harmful behaviour for a minority of players. ok8 takes this reality seriously. We have invested in player protection tools that are built into the core account experience — not buried three menus deep — because we want players to use them proactively, not only when they are already in trouble.
Our responsible gambling framework covers four key areas: age restriction, player-controlled limits, self-exclusion, and access to support. Each is described in detail on this page. We encourage all ok8 players to read through these sections and consider which tools might be useful for their own play style — even if they do not currently have concerns about their gambling.
All responsible gambling tools on ok8 are available at zero cost, require no approval process, and take effect immediately or within a short, clearly stated timeframe. You do not need to justify or explain your reasons for using any of them.
ok8 also monitors account activity for patterns that may indicate problem gambling — such as rapidly escalating deposit frequency, significant increases in bet sizes, or repeated failed withdrawal attempts that suggest a player is chasing losses. Where such patterns are detected, our team may proactively reach out to offer information about our player protection tools. We do this because we care, not to interfere.
Responsible gambling support is most effective when it is used early. You do not need to be in crisis to set a deposit limit or take a short break. These tools are for every player — and using them is a sign of informed, in-control gambling behaviour, not a sign of weakness.
All tools are free, immediate, and require no approval. Available from your account dashboard.
Player Protection Tools
Every tool below is accessible directly from your ok8 account dashboard. No forms to submit, no waiting periods for reductions — your protection is always one click away.
Set a cap on how much you can deposit per day, per week, or per month — in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). Requests to reduce a limit take effect immediately. Requests to increase a limit are subject to a 7-day cooling-off period to protect you from impulse decisions. You can set limits as low as RM 50 per day if that suits your budget.
Set a maximum duration for each gaming session. When your limit is reached, you will be automatically logged out and shown a responsible gambling message. You choose the duration — from 30 minutes to several hours. This is particularly useful if you tend to lose track of time while watching a live football match or playing a slot title during a commute.
Enable recurring in-session pop-up notifications at a fixed interval — for example, every 30 or 60 minutes — that display your total session time, net win or loss amount, and a prompt to continue or end your session. Reality checks are a simple, low-friction tool to maintain awareness of your play without needing to stop entirely.
Take a structured short break of 24 hours, 48 hours, or 7 days without permanently closing your account. During a cooling-off period your account is locked to deposits and wagering, but your balance is preserved and your account remains open. This is ideal if you feel you are gambling more than you intended lately but are not ready for a full self-exclusion.
Voluntarily exclude yourself from the ok8 Platform for a defined period: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, or permanently. During exclusion, your account is fully suspended — no deposits, no wagers, no promotional emails. Requests to end exclusion before the chosen period are subject to a minimum 7-day review. Permanent exclusion cannot be reversed.
Set a cap on the maximum net loss you are willing to sustain per day, week, or month. When your loss limit is reached, wagering from Real Money funds is suspended for the remainder of that period. Like deposit limit reductions, requests to reduce a loss limit take effect immediately. This tool is particularly effective for players who want to cap downside risk without restricting session time.
Age Restriction
ok8 enforces a strict minimum age of 21 years for all registered players. This applies universally across all states in Malaysia and is not subject to any exceptions, promotional waivers, or grandfathering. If you are under 21, you must not register with or use the ok8 Platform.
Age verification is embedded into the registration process, and full identity verification (KYC) is required before any withdrawal is processed. We verify identification documents — including MyKad and passports — to confirm both identity and age. Where a player's age cannot be confirmed, their account is suspended pending verification.
If you are a parent or guardian based in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, or anywhere else in Malaysia, and you believe a minor in your household has accessed the ok8 Platform, please contact our support team immediately via the on-site live chat. We will investigate and act promptly.
Any account found to belong to an individual under 21 years of age will be immediately and permanently closed. All wagering activity will be voided. Deposited funds will be returned to the original payment source where provable. ok8 does not profit from underage gambling — ever.
We also recommend that adults sharing devices with minors activate parental control software on those devices. While ok8 implements its own age controls rigorously, household-level controls provide an additional safeguard for families in Malaysia where shared device usage is common.

Know the Signs
Gambling problems rarely appear overnight. They develop gradually, and many people do not notice the shift until the behaviour is already causing harm. The signs below are not a diagnosis — they are a prompt to pause and reflect honestly about your relationship with gambling.
Gambling with money set aside for rent, bills, groceries, or other essential expenses — including money transferred via Maybank, CIMB, or Touch 'n Go that was earmarked for another purpose.
Feeling the need to place larger and larger bets to get the same level of excitement — a pattern known as tolerance, similar to that seen in other addictive behaviours.
Chasing losses — continuing to gamble specifically to try to win back money already lost, particularly after a bad Liga Super or EPL betting session.
Feeling irritable, anxious, or restless when attempting to reduce or stop gambling, or when prevented from accessing the Platform.
Hiding gambling activity from family members, friends, or colleagues — including hiding phone screens, deleting transaction history, or lying about where money has gone.
Borrowing money from friends, family, or financial services specifically to fund gambling — or considering doing so.
Gambling as a primary way of coping with stress, loneliness, depression, or difficult life circumstances rather than as a form of entertainment.
Self-Assessment
These questions are adapted from widely used responsible gambling screening frameworks. There are no right or wrong answers — only honest ones. If you answer "yes" to more than two or three, we encourage you to reach out for support.
Have you ever gambled with money that you needed for other financial obligations, such as loan payments, household bills, or daily expenses?
Have you ever felt the urge to keep gambling in order to win back money you lost in a previous session?
Have you tried to reduce your gambling and found it difficult or impossible to follow through on that intention?
Have you hidden gambling activity — or its financial consequences — from a spouse, parent, or close friend in the past 12 months?
Has gambling caused conflict in your relationships at home or at work, or led to significant personal stress or anxiety?
Do you find that you need to gamble with larger amounts of money than before to achieve the same level of excitement or satisfaction?
If several of these questions resonated with you, please consider using ok8's self-exclusion tool or reaching out to one of the support organisations listed below. You are not alone, and help is available right now in Malaysia.
Taking a Break
Self-exclusion is the most comprehensive player protection tool available at ok8. When you activate self-exclusion, your account is fully suspended — deposits, wagering, and bonus claims all cease immediately. You will also be removed from all ok8 marketing communications for the duration of your exclusion.
Self-exclusion at ok8 is available in the following time frames: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and permanently. The process takes effect within minutes of your request being submitted via the account dashboard or confirmed via our 24/7 live support team.
During self-exclusion, ok8 will take reasonable technical steps to prevent you from creating a new account. If you attempt to register a new account during a self-exclusion period using the same name, email address, or device, we will close that account upon detection.
Requests to end a self-exclusion early — before your chosen period has elapsed — are subject to a minimum 7-day reflection period. This delay is intentional and designed to prevent impulse decisions during moments of craving. Permanent exclusion cannot be reversed under any circumstances.
Deposit Limit Reference Guide
Limit reductions take effect immediately. Limit increases require a 7-day waiting period. All limits are applied in MYR. Limits apply across all deposit channels including Touch 'n Go eWallet, Boost, GrabPay, FPX, and DuitNow bank transfers.

Families & Friends
Problem gambling affects more than just the person gambling. If someone you care about — a spouse, parent, sibling, or friend — is showing signs that their gambling has become harmful, this section is for you.
Approaching someone about a potential gambling problem is difficult. Choose a calm, private moment — not immediately after a loss. Use "I" statements rather than accusations: "I've noticed you seem stressed about money lately" opens a door more gently than "You've been gambling too much." Be patient — it may take more than one conversation.
If a family member's gambling is causing financial harm to the household, consider practical protective steps: separate bank accounts, setting household budgets via apps, and enabling parental controls on shared devices to prevent underage access. You may also contact ok8 support if you believe a family member has a vulnerable or underage account on our Platform.
The family members of problem gamblers often experience significant stress, financial anxiety, and emotional exhaustion. You deserve support as much as the person you are worried about. Talian Kasih (15999) and Befrienders KL (03-7627 2929) both offer counselling for affected family members, not only for gamblers themselves. You do not have to manage this alone.
Gambling is most enjoyable when it is in balance. Set your limits, use our tools, and know that the ok8 support team is available 24/7 if you ever need help — no judgment, just practical assistance.
